Kia's Korner is Open!

posted Nov 25, 2013, 7:03 PM by Michelle Gardner

The long awaited day has finally come!  The shop is open and business is picking up.  There is a large selection of clothing, furniture, and household goods at amazing value. Donated goods are prepared by the Peaceful Water’s ladies for sale. Our ladies learn basic work skills and gain work experience. The community benefits through our vouchers for those in need. Free items were given daily to everyone at the time of the grand opening and the store has already partnered with Extreme Family Outreach for their Holiday Toy Drive and aided two families who recently lost their homes due to fire.  It's been a busy month!  Please 'like' us on Facebook and stop in and say hi!

"Some people have a gift that lets them see past the ugliness of something to glimpse its potential. People who know Deborah Blackwell say she has this gift.

Peaceful Waters is an Edgewood-based sober home for women Blackwell opened in August 2008, shortly after she says God laid out a plan that would change her life, and the lives of dozens of women. "

Harford County “joins the voices for recovery” in celebrating National Recovery Month every September.   This year Harford County’s Department of Community Services, Health Department, FACE-IT (Faith Activated Community Empowered Intervention Training), the City of Aberdeen and others are partnering to present the 2012 Recovery Month Celebration, an amazing countywide event, with games, food, and fun for the entire family.  There will be testimonials, music, and well wishes for those in recovery, families, friends and everyone along the continuum of support.  All of this is free to the public.  The Celebration is scheduled for Saturday, September 22, 2012, 11 a.m. -2 p.m. at Aberdeen’s Festival Park (across from Aberdeen City Hall).  The Recovery Month Celebration provides a perfect opportunity to rejoice in our successes and be uplifted through fellowship.  The theme is, “Join the Voices for Recovery; It’s Worth It.”
